Lifefactory fuses a modern design sensibility, healthy materials, eco-friendly composition and exceptional utility to produce a full line of Safe, Simple and Smart products. They have been a happy Codesly client for several years. Their website was built with ExpressionEngine and BrilliantRetail, and has several custom add-ons built by Codesly to help their online store run smoothly.
In August of 2014, Lifefactory and Codesly started discussing what it would take to make the Lifefactory website responsive. Sales were strong, but not great for mobile users. The mobile experience was sorely lacking, ending up in lost sales. With the details agreed upon, we set out to do a website makeover.
In turning Lifefactory into a responsive website, one factor was that the design couldn’t change. We needed to take the current website and make it work across all devices. Since Codesly had done the original design and codebase, this wasn’t as daunting as it sounded. This also meant getting the site updated to more current code standards.
As the project finished up, we were happy to deliver a fully responsive ecommerce solution to Lifefactory that retained about 95% of the original design. The final 5% ended up being refinements that worked very well with the design.
Lifefactory sales are strong, and mobile conversion rates are up from last year. Proof that responsive design can help ecommerce sales and conversion rates. It also makes for a much more enjoyable experience, which translates to return customers.
